We’re about halfway through the school holidays now. If you have children, hopefully you will have spent some well-deserved time with them. If not, best get moving as it won’t be long before all attention turns to the ‘return to school’ routine, for you and for the kids!
Lazier days, longer nights and way too much screen time during the holidays will no doubt take its toll on many, resulting in a slow start back. It may take a few weeks for them to start functioning properly again, whether that’s at nursery, school, college or university.
Here are a few suggestions to get those young brains active and to keep their energy levels up all day!
Omega-3 Fish Oil
Often referred to as ‘brain food’, Omega-3 Fish Oils improve levels of concentration. Shortage of both DHA and EPA, the 2 fats in Omega-3 Fish Oil, has been linked to developmental and behavioural disorders in children, and supplementation of both has shown spectacular improvement. DHA is essential for the healthy development of brain and eye tissue in children, too.
Iron & Molybdenum
Foodstate Iron has the effect of reducing tiredness and fatigue. It contributes to normal cognitive function and helps to transport oxygen in the body. In its Foodstate form, our Iron is gentle, non-constipating and well-absorbed. We have added 10ug of Molybdenum to the Iron because it assists with the release of iron within our bodies.
Magnesium
Foodstate Magnesium is essential for normal levels of physical/emotional energy. Low levels can result in tiredness, fatigue, loss of stamina and insomnia. It’s essential for proper nerve function too, and deficiency is linked to mood swings, anxiety, stress and poor concentration. It can help reduce depression and memory loss and increases our learning ability. It also stops muscle cramps and encourages better sleep. 80% of Brits are thought to be Magnesium deficient.
Vitamin B Complex
B vitamins are often described as a great ‘pick-me-up’, helping to avoid tiredness and fatigue. People who are always tired by mid-afternoon are often Vitamin B deficient. B Vitamins work well together, so we recommend taking the Foodstate Vitamin B Complex which also contains Vitamin C to help with Vitamin B absorption while boosting the immune system.
Avoid refined sugar! It’s so detrimental to our health, whatever your age.
From tooth decay and skin conditions through to increasing autism and cancer risks, refined sugar is having such a detrimental effect on the health of the nation.
It’s sometimes difficult to say “no”, and if you or your children have a sweet tooth and are looking for something to help balance your body’s blood sugar, then the mineral GTF Chromium helps do that. GTF stands for Glucose Tolerance Factor.
- It contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism
- GTF Chromium helps to maintain normal blood glucose levels
- Chromium helps to metabolise carbohydrates, fats and protein as it enhances the action of insulin, the body’s fat storage hormone
Why FoodState Chromium?
Our GTF Chromium is better absorbed and longer retained than isolated chromium, normally found in supplements. Ours is made from a species of broccoli that has been hydroponically grown in a chromium-rich environment. As such, it is a wholefood form of the mineral, with high bio-availability.
